Scouring pads-also known colloquially as "vegetable sponge pads" or "loofah-fiber cloths"-are cleaning and maintenance tools made from synthetic fibers, evolved from the traditional folk cleaning implement: the natural loofah gourd. In the past, these products were referred to by various names, such as "industrial scouring pads," "nylon abrasive cloths," or simply "vegetable sponge pads."
It was not until 2024 that Jiayan New Materials took the lead in drafting relevant technical standards; subsequently, the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Abrasives and Grinding Tools officially designated the product category as "Coated Abrasives: Non-woven Abrasive Cloths."
