Industrial scouring pads are widely used for metal grinding and polishing, deburring, rust removal, general cleaning, weld seam treatment, and surface preparation (such as paint adhesion enhancement). They are also utilized for creating decorative surface finishes-such as brushed stainless steel textures and antique bronze effects-as well as for machinery maintenance and cleaning, and for sanding coatings on wooden surfaces.

Household scouring pads are primarily used for kitchen cleaning tasks, such as washing dishes, scrubbing pots and pans, and cleaning stovetops and sinks. In general home cleaning, these pads can be used to remove lint and pills from clothing; clean fruits and vegetables (e.g., removing cucumber spines or apple wax); clean makeup brushes; wipe down windows and crevices; and clean household appliances, such as electric fan grilles. Scouring pads also have various clever household applications, serving as soap rests, refrigerator deodorizers, water-retention layers in flowerpots, and tools for cleaning suede products.

In automotive cleaning and maintenance, scouring pads can be used to clean interior surfaces and wheel rims; however, care must be taken to avoid direct contact with the vehicle's paintwork to prevent scratching [17]. Additionally, scouring pads are employed in metallographic sample preparation for the coarse and fine polishing of materials such as metals, ceramics, composite materials, and semiconductor chips.
